April is National Fair Housing Month!
|
April is National Fair Housing Month, a time to reflect on the importance of equal access to housing for all Americans. This month-long observance commemorates the passing of the Fair Housing Act in April 1968, which prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. It serves as a reminder that everyone deserves the right to fair and equal treatment when seeking housing, regardless of their background or characteristics. National Fair Housing Month is a time to raise awareness about housing discrimination, promote inclusive communities, and advocate for the enforcement of fair housing laws. It's a time to celebrate progress made in advancing fair housing rights, and to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to obtain safe, affordable, and discrimination-free housing.
