President's Message...

Once again, I am humbled by the outpouring of support from our Association.  At our QAC Christmas Angels Event we raised over $10,000 and have 100 children who will have a very merry Christmas this year!

Thank you to the Kent Island Elks for their generous donation to cover the expenses of the night.  Also special thank you to our table sponsors, auctioneer, auction basket donors, everyone who bid on baskets and donated to the numbers draw, and especially for everyone who sponsored a child.  A special thank you to all of the volunteers who made this event happen.

If you were unable to attend, but would still like to sponsor a child, please reach out to us at the BAAR Office and we will be happy to help you help a child.

My heart felt thanks goes out to every one of you.

Thank you!

Linda Austin

BAAR President

With Sales Down and Prices Still Rising, the Mid-Atlantic Could Be In for a Chilly Fall Market

Home prices in the Mid-Atlantic region continue to rise even as the combination of high mortgage rates, low inventory, and the transition to a fall market subdues transactions. The region may be nearing a price ceiling, however, as the outlook is for growing inventory and a pullback in demand this fall.

In a surprising twist, the National Association of Realtors has announced a change in how interprets its Participation Rule, which requires listing brokers to provide buyer brokers an offer of compensation in order to list on the multiple listing service (MLS).

While previously NAR has stated that the offer of compensation could be as little as a penny or a dollar, in a reversal of this stance, NAR is now saying that listing brokers can offer nothing and still comply with the rule, as first reported by Inman News.

This change comes as the trade group prepares for the three-week trial of the Sitzer/Burnett class action buyer broker compensation lawsuit, which starts on Oct. 16.
